here friends sarah and john waterfall, yeah we have a couple waterfalls that, are close to us that we love hiking too, so we thought it would be fun to draw, one today we hope you're gonna follow, along with us you ready to start yay, let's first draw the top of our, waterfall and we're going to start up, here at the top of our paper and we're, going to draw a line it can start, anywhere i'm just going to start right, here and i'm going to draw a line coming, down, there we go, now we're going to draw the top we're, going to come out from that top line, like this and then curve, down, and curve down, and then match the same line on the, other side yeah when the water goes over, the edge and it falls down and lands in, the water at the bottom it splashes and, creates a big cloud, so we're going to draw a big miss cloud, of mist we're going to draw a bumpy line, we're going to start here we're going to, draw an upside down u we're going to, draw a bunch of them some of them can be, small and some can be bigger they don't, have to be all the same size, yeah, and they don't have to look exactly like, mine, okay now let's extend, those bubbles or the mist coming down a, little further on the left side, yeah and maybe also on the right side, too now we're also going to draw the, rocks and the mountain next to the, waterfall let's first start up here and, we're going to draw a kind of like a, zigzag line that comes up, like that diagonally towards the top of, our paper, then we can do the same thing on the, other, side go up, diagonal, now let's add another one of those, diagonal kind of zigzags coming down, right here so we'll connect to the right, side of our mist or cloud mist, and draw a zigzag line coming down, towards the middle of our waterfall, and the last line i'm going to aim down, that's cool let's repeat that same step, over here i'm going to draw another, zigzag, bumpy line that comes over to the left, doesn't that look like cool rocks coming, in yeah, i think that's also the fun part about, this lesson it doesn't have to look, exactly like mine you can change it make, it look different now at the bottom, let's connect over here i'm going to, draw a line coming so you could draw a, rock coming down, first, then draw the line coming in, this is the bottom of our, mist or cloud or the water's splashing, i'm going to draw a little zigzag, and then come across maybe add one more, zigzag and then connect to our rocks on, the right side, yeah, that's awesome next we're going to draw, another smaller waterfall coming down to, the right side so i'm going to draw this, coming over, and then curving down similar to this, one over here so draw it coming down, right here, now let's draw the other side of our, our second waterfall coming down, and then we're going to curve and kind, of match this curve over here, so we can come around and then curve, down, yeah so we can keep coming around like, this and then curve down to match this, side, now this one can come down and also, match over here on the left so these can, come down so they're at the same length, yeah now let's also draw a bumpy cloud, line, connecting these two lines on our second, waterfall, on the left and also on the right draw, another bump that comes down a little, further, and then we're going to do the same, zigzag line but we can go this way so, i'm going to draw a line coming across, and then zigzag line back, yeah and you could go a little further, and then maybe even draw a zigzag line, going this way, and then connect it to the other side, also you're doing such a great job let's, start down here we're going to draw our, waterfall coming into a lake or a pond, so we'll draw a line starting here on, this cloud mist cloud whatever you want, to call it splashing water we can draw a, diagonal line coming down, and then let's do the same thing on this, side we'll draw another line coming down, this is going to be our pond for lake, now let's add a few more lines to our, waterfall let's start up here we're, going to draw, what lines coming down so it looks like, the water is rushing over the edge, you could draw a couple lines curving, over, and then i'm going to add a few more, lines coming down you can add these, lines wherever you want it just makes, the water look like it's going really, fast let's do the same thing right here, i'm going to add, some lines coming over this edge and we, can also draw a couple back here too, yeah, let's add a few more bumpy lines, cloud lines inside of the crashing water, these don't have to look exactly like, mine you can just add them wherever you, want, yeah you want to add some down here too, looks like a bush yeah it does when we, color it blue it won't, if you colored it green it would, definitely look like a bush, all right we did it we finished drawing, our waterfall it looks really cool but, let's add a few more things to our, nature let's add trees first let's add, some grass or green over here so let's, add another line, coming out to the side, then let's draw we're going to come up, really high and draw a big tree right, here let's draw an upside down v, now on the left side we're going to come, down and then a short line in, then let's do it again let's go out, further and then another short line in, we're going to draw an evergreen tree, come down further, and then, yeah i can go in a little further then, let's do the same thing on this side go, in draw a short line in, then we're going to draw a big diagonal, line that comes out further, and then let's do another short line in, and then we'll draw another diagonal, line it could go out even a little, further, and then let's connect these at the, bottom, connect the two sides left and the right, cool i like the shape of your tree and, it's okay that our two trees look, different right yeah yeah because the, most important thing is to have food and, to practice practice i added two lines, for the trunk on that tree, let's practice drawing one more tree, over here let's do it smaller though, let's first draw an upside down v, we can draw it over here it's going to, land on this on these rocks right here, let's drop upside down v then let's do, the left side first we're going to draw, a short line in, and then we're going to do a long, diagonal line coming out further, yeah and then we'll do another short, line in, and then one more diagonal line that, comes out further so you could draw it, coming out, let's do the same thing on the right, side short line in, long diagonal line out, short line in, diagonal line out big one, and then connect them at the bottom, and then what are we missing it's, floating it's trunk yeah the trunk let's, try two lines for the trunk, oh look at that i think that tree looks, awesome it's really cool that it's, smaller it makes it look like it's, further away this one's maybe close and, that one's really far away you did a, great job i think we should add even, more trees this part we're gonna fast, forward but we're just gonna use the, same steps to draw more we can draw even, smaller ones up here we could also even, add more grass and rocks yeah you ready, to fast forward yeah yeah, all right austin we did it now you guys, at home can pause the video to match our, same drawing or you could just use it as, inspiration and add trees anywhere you, want you could even add more rocks or, even different plants it looks really, cool but we still need to color it we do, we need to color it we're going to color, the whole thing now this part we're, going to fast forward one more time but, at the end you can pause it again you, ready to fast forward yeah, i said give me five i love your drawing, so much i feel like i could jump right, into it walk up to the top and then, yes, did you have a lot of fun yeah i hope, our friends are gonna take time to color, their drawings too to make our drawings, look more three-dimensional we used a, light gray for the mountains way in the, background then we got darker and darker, yeah the closest mountains are really, dark also to do that remember we added, small trees way off in the distance and, big trees up close yeah you guys at home, could also add more things to your, drawing like fish jumping out of the, water oh yeah lots of fish dolphins, no not dolphins, they're in the ocean yeah we hope you, have a lot of fun drawing your, waterfalls we do we hope you had a lot, of fun and remember it's okay if your, drawings look different than ours in, fact i hope they look different i hope, you take time to change your drawings, and add more things and we'll see you, later our friends goodbye, hey parents and teachers take a photo of, your child's finished artwork and post, it on Ask HN: A Rapportive-esque Email CRM for small businesses and startups? As a small startup that sells to enterprises, we've been looking high and low for a collaboration-centric CRM that bridges the gap between the email and CRM silos, yet we've found almost every solution we've tried wanting, and we've tried a handful to say the least.

While we interact with our customers primarily via email, because most commercial CRMs are a completely separate silo, multiple problems arise:

-We have little or no context (about contacts or opportunities) while looking at an email, although we might have added relevant information / notes to the CRM.

-The email inbox and the CRM are eternally out of sync, necessitating a lot of duplicated data entry and resulting in incomplete account / opportunity information.

-The context-switching overhead associated with frequently toggling between email and the CRM.

What we've really been looking for:

1) Activity Feed: A simple, concise stream of updates for each and every account / opportunity, so we're all on the same page and we've recorded the entire history of our interactions with a customer for posterity.

2) Email Bridge: When the CRM is a separate silo, a huge amount of duplicate data entry results. Tight email integration via a Rapportive-esque widget for GMail / Outlook that lets me associate mails with opportunities, and view contextual information within the inbox. This includes email-CRM sync, so that contacts are up to date.

3) Task Management: A basic task manager that integrates with my calendar and email (the ability to create tasks from emails and have them appear in my calendar) .

4) Simple CRM: The ability to create accounts / opportunities and add collaborators.

5) Mobile: A simple mobile web app to access contacts / relevant data when on the move was imperative.

6) Basic Reporting: A concise dashboard that lets me visualize a few key metrics (optional).

What we observed (I'm covering only some of the more famous tools that we tried. I don't mean to criticize these tools, I'm only trying to point out that they did not work for our use-case):

-Sugar CRM, while infinitely malleable and extensible, was never built for collaboration.

-Salesforce: The same might be said of SalesForce - too complicated / clunky, too focused on reporting / analytics, and too expensive for a small team anyway.

-Fat Free CRM was a bit too spartan and ended up being inflexible to the point that we had to discard it.

-Insightly, a CRM that integrates deeply with Google Apps seemed promising at first blush, but we found it far from usable from a collaboration standpoint. Too many clicks needed to get anything done.

-Highrise was simple and well designed, but their email integration was far too convoluted for our liking.

-Zoho CRM seemed to possess most of the features that we were looking for, but the user experience left so much to be desired that we had to walk away.

-While Rapportive and Xobni certainly have their merits (and I'm a big fan), they're too basic and contact-centric to really considered sales CRMs.

So, is there a simple CRM for startups and small businesses that integrates tightly and plays well with email? Is this a pain point that resonates with any other HNers?

NOTES:

1] I'm aware that a)CureCRM and b)Xobni Pro + the SalesForce Gadget are approximate enterprise versions of what we're looking for, but a small startup like ours cann't afford to use SalesForce.

2] Nimble CRM is a new social CRM for Google Apps that looks quite interesting. They try to be your consolidated inbox, and I'm a bit loath to use anything other than good old GMail for email. I will give them a spin, though..
